Oh god the manga was a complete mess.

Because the manga did the common crime of romance series, where the series ends with a time skip after the couple became official, because the author can't think about how the couple would act post accepted confession to make the story go on longer.

At the episode opening we see Gojo painting yet another doll and when he's done he is visibly disappointed with the result. After spending a day with Marin we cut to him doing another doll and when he finishes, he smiles.
