This demonic form Virgil takes, is a warped form created by Mundus tainting Virgil with his demonic power, in the original canon. Turning Virgil into his puppet. After subjugating Virgil, who was severely injured from a previous fight with Dante. You can tell that its not Virgil's natural Devil Trigger, as sibling demons, especially twins, are almost mirrors of each other. With proof of that in this show, with the sword demon brothers Dante didn't see what happened to Virgil in the original canon. As his mother had hid him in a cabinet during the demonic raid on their home. While she rushed out to try and find Virgil. Only to die just close enough for Dante to hear her mother's death cry. With Virgil being nearly killed by a hoard of demons out in the park, only being saved by his Devil Trigger awakening at a young age. Which gave him a reason to put such a strong emphasis on the value of power. With the previous statement it should be mentioned why Virgil would not willingly serve Mundus. As the only demon that would order such a raid on their childhood home, was Mundus in revenge to his former knights betrayal. And because of his trauma, he'd never allow someone else to take command of him. Not to mention how bullshit Mundus' concern for his people is. As on the final fight against the second recurring boss of Devil May Cry 1. The faithful demon begged its lord for more power, in the hopes of slaying Dante. Only for Mundus to put the demon down himself, for failing him for the last time. The guy you briefly see standing when you see the new name of Darkon, as the Ouroboros Corporation. I believe is the big bad of Devil May Cry 2. Everyone's "favorite" installment of the series, for how mind-numbingly boring, or frustrating, it is to play.
