He shows up every now and then. He's probably still the most important character after the main two. I don't know where the manga is right now but it must still be quite far back.

It's like Lakan was a bad guy in the web novel and the author changed it for the light novel without thinking about how it fit the other characters actions. It just doesn't fit. It makes Maomao look like a stupid little teenager that just hates her Dad for the sake of it because "I'm jelous of him" is not justification to treat him like a turd under her shoe. The only conclusion is that the author plans to make this the longest light novel in history and this is just the beginning (10 volumes in btw) so their relationship can't progress yet. A lot of things in this show make me come to that conclusion.
