My Problems with Fullmetal Alchemist

This one's all-around negative, but it was the best way I could think of to get through all my random issues with FMA before wrapping up the series. Besides, it gives me an opportunity to finally talk about The Conqueror of Shamballa.
Anyway, I'm gonna get back to work on the last part of this video series! As always, thank you for your support, and I hope you enjoy it.

Great points! I'm happy I released this early here. You've given me some stuff to think about. I may even make a couple small adjustments to the video as far as the Rose and Dante section are concerned. (I should have at least mentioned that she DOES react, and I should also have brought up the fact that, when Ed is initially pushed through the gate, Al doesn't know about it so it makes some sense there.)

2021-08-13 15:16:13 +0000 UTCI never had the problem with Rose. She DOES re-act when Ed catches the baby--she gasps, runs to Ed, & yells 'My Baby!.' I interpreted as Dante's drugs and/or alchemical mind-control starting to wear off, which finished wearing off after Ed is killed. I also had no problem with Dante forcing Ed through the gate. It actually makes perfect sense to me. When Dante describes her pushing Hohenheim through the gate she says "He's as good as dead--I broke the bond between his mind & body." I interpreted this as an instance of her petty cruelty. She wanted Hohenheim of Light to suffer and once she realized that Ed would not be susceptible to her charms if she took over Rose's body, she decided to inflict the same worse-than-death fate on the son of Hohenheim. The reason why Dante's decision to shove Ed through the gate was not something that she felt needed to worry about with respect to Al is that I think she assumed 1) Al would have no idea what just happened to Ed & 2) it looked to me like he was under some kind of alchemical restrain via the transmutation circle. I always have interpreted the scene that bothers you as Al fighting like hell to overcome said restrain and 3) we HADN'T seen Al act against said restrain until after Ed is killed. Your points about Rush valley & Winry I agree with as with your point about the two brothers. Funnily enough, I never noticed that plot contrivance, but your right about it being there & it being annoying. Terminator Archer is indeed awful. I pretend that the "Conqueror of Shambala" doesn't exist as I really, really hate it. I also LOVED the ending to the tv series & think the ending is beautiful both narratively & thematically. Great video as always!
