He doesn’t have to specifically mention the exact thing she did. He can talk about how she saved his life not from that specific failed first loop and could even just mention she chose to take him to the mansion and healed him and kept him close and tries to protect him from harm. He can be non specific to just say why he loves her other than her looks. He just can’t mention anything about looping. Even in season 2 he’s had many comments with roswaal openly referring to “having this convo many times”. Also like in episode 6 he tells Rem “why can’t you guys remember anything that we’ve done” referring to the past loops where he got to know them well and nothing happened. It’s not exactly explained what triggers it but he could definitely tell Emilia if he wanted more about how she saved him and treated him kindly just throughout the story to keep it non specific

But Emilia has never rejected Subaru (even to go on dates in failed loops) and Subaru has never looped to try to improve his romantic situation. He has always respected Emilia's will in this way.

(still better than the taste of death) However, it is what it is. He may not have other choice to make Emilia pass her trial in time. She need to feel somebody else cares about her in the most convincing way I guess.

For once, I'd suggest reading the WN chapter straight up. It's precisely Arc 4 Chapter 110. You can find it very easily on the TranslationChicken website.

2024-09-15 11:16:55 +0000 UTCThe thing I find most interesting about the Emilia scene is Subaru doesn’t ever bring up why he chose to love and follow her. Which is the fact she was the first person to be nice to him in this world and sees someone who can be a good person if surrounded by good people. I still think it’s a good moment for them. I wouldn’t say it’s a setup but Subaru did the kiss as an ad lib. Like I think when she said he wouldn’t make her believe he felt in that moment he had to do something way above and beyond what someone would normally do. That honestly feels like the only way she would accept it. Is Subaru going Chad and basically saying I’ll show you because doing this isn’t something someone would do unless it was true. Kind of thing. But like you said it’s not his fault she is like this and this situation happened.
