Ehh disagree. Mostly because we can see how Subaru would be, when he's with Rem, given how we have the Sloth IF story, so it looks like their relationship would go swimmingly, and be superb. Rem does glaze and seemingly blindly follows but she's also strict when she needs to be, shown in this episode as well as in the Sloth IF story.

In his normal state of mind, Rem is probably the worst choice out of the girls because she's just glazing and blindly following him. She's literally feeding into Subaru's arrogance and pride making him feel like he's always in the right. She definitely is the perfect person to help with his self-loathing tho and the current state of mind he's in rn, since she's so unconditionally loving and accepting of him and that's what he needed in this situation to wake up and hopefully, grow as a character. On another note, I really can't wait to know about Subaru's past, I don't think anyone who's had a normal life can hate themselves that much. Not gonna yap any further, team Beako 'till the end ๐ฟ.

2024-08-24 23:33:02 +0000 UTCThis post is going to be long but I think it needs to be in order to get my full thoughts out on why Subaru loves Emilia. TLDR at bottom. Emilia was the very first person who was kind to Subaru, kind enough that she stopped what she was doing in order to help him, giving excuses so that Subaru would not be indebted to her. Subaru decided to help her after this. In the loops after this, he saw that her kindness never changed as she still helped helped that lost child. In arc two at the mansion, Subaru couldn't trust anyone around him after dying 2 times. He was paronoid around everyone in the mansion. His trust in Rem was completely broken when he discovered that she was the one who killed him in previous loops. She even tortured him for hours because of the witches smell. We know why Rem does this because we were shown her backstory, however at the time Subaru has no knowledge of this. In fact Subaru still does not know Rem's full backstory, just that she saw herself as inferior to Ram. It was after the 4th death in the mansion that he resolved himself to save everyone. As we see in episode 8, he was completely overwhelmed trying his best to not seem suspicious. This was when Emilia's Lap Pillow happened, she didn't question why he felt this way or what happened. She comforted him. She was the only person who trusted him and never hurt him in every loop in the mansion. Even when Rem died to the dog, Emilia chose to trust him. It is absolutely not surprising that Subaru fell in love with Emilia at this point. TLDR: Emilia throughout all the loops up to arc 2 (other than when Subaru called her Satella in the third loop), always trusted and never hurt Subaru. She comforted him when he was at his limit in Arc 2.

2024-08-23 17:30:18 +0000 UTCIt's my personal head cannon that he doesn't fully understand himself. For example, remember when he first learned he could regress in the first loop? He was going to go off and live a carefree life but something made him go back to help Emilia. I fail to believe he decided to risk his life over and over again while being pushed away by Emilia unless there's some type of unconscious thing compelling him. Maybe it's to do with why he was summoned? I'm not entirely sure but it's way too much to say he's gaslighting himself. surely something else is at play

It's just a starstruck first meeting and him gaslighting himself that he loves her since. But other than that, he does have the right to not love Rem. She still best wife material out there 07.
