2024-07-31 14:32:39 +0000 UTCI love that Ichikawa's whole conflict with "Pigman" could be interpreted as a confrontation with his old self. When reading the comments on Yamada's gram by "an otaku".. Ichikawa could recognize that creepy, insecure envious "outsider" projection that otaku have with their idols. Its a view that Ichikawa himself used to have on the world around him back in Season 1. Most especially Yamada. The feeling that other people are out of your league. That a loser like him had no right to even consider it a possibility to connect with such higher beings. Once again, this story showing how far Ichikawa has come. I mean take a look at that scene of Ichikawa hanging out with Adachi and classmates, both guys and girls. Outside of school even. Just casually talking about random crap like idol scandals. Season 1 Ichikawa could never ever imagine such a moment happening in his life. Ichikawa recognizing the "otaku" was being creepy. Like he's acknowledging that yeeah I was a loser creep back then. He's changed. He still needs to work on those insecurities and creepy tendencies, like when he stalked Yamada and the group to the karaoke bar. But he was quickly able to communicate it to Yamada and that he was sorry for doing that. By developing a more intimate relationship with Yamada, he was given the opportunity to see Yamada, the flawed human. The regular girl who has her own share of shortcomings.
