BEACH BUM
As everyone who follows my work knows, my buddy Shaley and I have been friends for several years now and seen each other through many formative transitions in our lives. She is a sweet, fun, kindhearted person who never is afraid to voice her opinions, stand up for what she believes, and get drunk when all else fails. She has brought a joy and lightness to my life and work that I never could have planned for, and I’m thankful every day that she is on the planet.
On this day we met up at a small beach mostly only locals know about and proceeded to shoot while couples, a smattering tourists, and families with small children frolicked in the waves. As usual, Shaley wasn’t terribly shy about wearing revealing clothing, even donning some free merchandise a company had sent her. Then she joined the rest fo the people, jumping into the freezing California ocean waves, laughing and screaming the whole time.
“I hate you!” she’d say with a laugh as she rushed back to shore before chugging from a can of fancy hipster IPA she’d brought with her. As you’d expect, she repeated this statement and consuming of beverages several times over the course of the afternoon.
