i mean, the events of season 2 all take place in the span of a couple weeks of time you know? It is not like he abandoned the kids for years wtf and when is he supposed to go back and see them with everything that is going on? He is attacked by Hinata immediately after he leaves the kids, but he escapes and goes home to see Tempest destroyed. They spend a few days grieving and preparing for their counter attack then that fighting is done in less than a day. He goes into sleep mode for 3 days after Awakening as a TDL. Then he releases Veldora and spends a few days in the cave adjusting his skills before the meetings happen. The start of the meetings is 3 days before Walpurgis so all in, season 2 is done less than 2 weeks after he said bye to the kids....
