yea, thats the rule of thumb, never drink from puddles / ponds even if it looks clear or whatever. those are infested with bacteria. running water ll also have them, but in lesser quantity, best ofc is to gather water from tree/leaves condensating and filter/boil that, or straight up rain water if you are in a tropical area.
