14:12 same here, they panned on a model car. aka they want the land to exploit the petrol underground to make a car industry. since the world still works on horse carriage transports. which makes it take days/weeks to travel from one city to another.

Not sure if they left it out of the show because they plan to do something different than whatever is going to happen in the manga, but for the most part the only differences are minor, so probably just a creative decision.

As you noticed, it looked like he was pushing it in instead of pulling it out, so he was probably just messing around for the idea that he wanted an actual descendant to show up to pull the sword out instead of him. He might have been able to just brute force it out the whole time.
