STARBURST

As usual, I have a huge backlog of 35 photo shoots to attend to and no time to edit them. And also as usual, I am sick of most of those images, or rather, I’m tired of the style in which they were shot. I’m really frustrated with the way I’ve been shooting. Sure, I know what I’m doing, I can take a properly exposed image, make everything look nice, etc. But it’s BORING. DULL. ENDLESSLY SOUL STEALING.

So I’ve been trying a few different things. I’ve purchased some small things, have been experimenting, even though that only means adding to my already swelling backlog of images that required sorting, editing, etc.

For this nighttime series with my dear friend Erika, I specifically only wanted outdoors lights, nothing that I had on me. I wanted to fly by the seat of my pants, figure it out in the moment, live and die by what was already on the road. And somehow, magically, I think we pulled it off. Some of these images could never have been taken a year ago by me, I’ve become much more open to the happy accident, the mystery and uncertainty of it all. And I must say I love it. I crave it. I want more!

But for now, I have a hard slog of editing that will keep my busy the rest of the year. And thankfully I’ll be sharing all of it exclusively here with you lucky lot. Thank you so much again for being wonderfully supportive!
