FLAMING LIPS
I titled this post this way simply because I was listening to the band as I was writing this text, haha.
What else can be said about Lauren Woody that hasn’t already been shared? She’s as fun, good-natured, dedicated to her craft, and as beautiful as you see in her photos. Energetic and open-minded, she’s as easy-going as she is focused on her career in clothing design as she is easy and relaxed in from of the camera.
We shot this in a blooming field after a few weeks of rain. the mustard flowers were the tallest I’d ever seen them and her blonde hair and radiant smile made them seem brighter than they already were in the morning summer sunshine.
We had fun joking and gossiping about life, and she easily began dancing around, stripping to music on her phone while I just sat there and clicked away. I hadn’t used a 28mm lens for a long time, but I wanted as much of the scene as possible, so I used that lens for a majority of the shoot. I had learned on a 28mm, so it felt both comfortable and foreign at the same time, since I’d shunned it for so long.
I’d forgotten how much I enjoyed the distortions, which made her already shapely backside even more rounded and impressive in these shots. Using the 28mm really filled the whole scene, making the full images much more of a well-composed photograph than just being a straight photo of a model. I’ll have to implore it more in the future.
What do you think of this series? Is it different at all? Let me know in the comments below!
