CARELESS WHISPERS
McKenzie Eckels is back! Creative, artistic, fun, and oh so compelling, McKenzie is just a dream. She speaks eloquently, formally, poetically, with an accent that is more upper-class New England than the Californian and Texan accents she’s spent most of her time in. Most importantly, she’s a sweet and caring friend, and I think she’s probably one of the best models I’ve ever worked with.
I drove down to LA last Monday to visit a friend and to work with McKenzie, so I woke up at 5am and started the long three hour drive down. By 10am I was inside her fancy, temporary apartment, admiring the paintings and creative atmosphere created by her roommates. Soon I was in her bedroom, chatting and dishing gossip, sitting on her bed as she finished her make-up in the open bathroom. It was great to see her again after so many long months, and as usual we fell right back into our fun pattern of friendship rolls.
First we shot in her living room, which will be posted next month. Then we went for a short drive out to Griffith Park to shoot in the bright, California summer sunshine. After a few outfit attempts, we finally settled on this simple blue dress, which looked more like a slip to me, though she swore she’s worn it out in public. I can’t imagine the wide-eyed stares she received from men in public!
Obviously, she looked amazing, and I’m very proud that the first set we’ve shot in over a year turned out as perfect as I knew they would be. I hope you enjoy this series as much as we do! Let me know what you think!
