RETURN OF MOTHER NATURE
The rains had finally returned, though briefly. The land was so dry and thirsty that as usual, grass and weeds and wild mustard began to sprout wildly and tall. It was well-needed and well appreciated by everyone here on the Central Coast. And I felt the same way about Erika. I hadn’t seen her much since we both entered into new and exciting and special relationships with our partners. And we missed each other the way the soil missed the rains.
So finally, we just rearranged our schedules in order to make it work. She arrived at my place with her usual sweet, dorky smile and we gave each other a tight, genuine hug that only longtime friends can share. After chatting for over half an hour, we hopped in my vehicle and headed out to the grass fields I’d seen the week before.
It was like old times. We required almost no discussion about the photos. We talked about life and our new loves and the great, exciting new changes in our lives, only briefly interrupted by a request or an angle change or her asking me how much I was capturing in the lens. It was effortless, seamless, and oh so familiar.
I've become so enamored with transitioning my images to black and white that I've included the color versions of many of these images along with the monochromatic versions. Let me know which versions you prefer! Personally, I enjoy the BW versions more.
