SHUT UP AND DRIVE

I think it’s coming back. After months and months of struggle, conflict, inner turmoil, outward detractors, and so much more, I am finally starting to feel the creative drive coming back into my body, my mind, my soul.

It’s been tough. I’ve lost dear friends this year, suffered a really bad illness, professional and personal trials. But I’ve also been gifted the love of a true and special woman, who is so radiant and positive that I am a better man for having her in my life. She’s challenged me, inspired me, and made me view life in a whole new and fresh way.

I’ve started painting again, drawing again, reading more, revisiting old works that inspired me, doing research, getting out and living more. And that’s renewed a sense of life in me that seems to have been missing for years.

This shoot of a faceless model that would prefer not to be named, was one of the first all year that made me feel good, different, and qualified to call myself an artist. The images are simple, elegant, yet they retain a mood and sincerity that I love and always strive for. I’m tired of tricks, gimmicks, complicated lighting, filters and photoshop magic. Show me that you can take a great image as is, show me you can nature a moment, a feeling, something real. And I’ll try to do the same from now on.

Thank you all again for your constant support. Your kind words, encouraging comments, and continued reassurance that I can achieve more than my darkest moods make me feel has really helped turn the tide. And now it’s time to get back to work.
