PEACHES & CREAM

Most of us just blend into the background, a faceless number in a sea of crowded streets and cafes, unseen and ignored. Then there are a chosen few who stand out so much that they seem to radiate their own rays of light, making the anonymous crowds circle them in unending orbits. One of these select few is Sierra McKenzie.

I first saw her on the cover of the Seattle trade paper, The Stranger, and even though I’d never seen her before, I knew she was something special. It wasn’t until several years later that I finally met her in person, had the pleasure of working with her while on a visit back to the Northwest, and have intermittently had the continued joy to know and collaborate with her from time to time.

This most recent time was here on the Central Coast at the legendary Madonna Inn on the outskirts of San Luis Obispo, Ca. The place is known for it’s timeless and classic decoration, which some see as kitchy and gaudy to their modern eyes. But Sierra’s effortless and universal beauty shines in such a place, and her vintage aesthetic is perfect for the area.

This was taken in one of the “Blue Rooms,” and of course Sierra had matching clothing for every corner and color of the location. We shot in various corners, on the bed, on the in-room balcony, on the elaborately decorated sofas and bathroom, all while chatting and catching up on her recent videography production endeavors. It was a great shoot, and I’m sure you won’t be disappointed! Enjoy this special series!
