SECRET GARDEN

Shaley is BACK! This tiny, energetic young thing has become a dear friend, one who I drink with fairly regularly with my girlfriend and sometimes a few other hanger-ons. She is someone who always brings a smile to my face. She is kind, sincere, and never one to drop a load of drama on anyone’s doorstep.

This shoot was from a few month ago. Over the summer the boy scout ranch I had spent my entire youth at had recently burnt to the ground, and the surrounding area had turned black and mysterious, yet somehow still beautiful. Shaley slept on my sofa that night and at 4am I woke her up and drug her reluctant and winey body out to that ranch, some 45 minutes away. It was freezing and still dark, and I clearly had overestimated how much time we would need to arrive there and be ready to shoot. We ended up spending about an hour with the heater on in the truck as she shivered and slowly awoke while I walked around and made a slight plan of attack for where we’d shoot.

When the light was finally decent enough, just as the sun was rising, she braved the outdoors and her willowy frame immediately tensed in the frigid air, yet she was a good sport about it all. We shot off and on while she took turns running back and forth to the truck to get warm again.

All in all we shot for about an hour, with her slowly becoming more and more naked, and though she wasn’t happy about the process, she was proud to have accomplished it and especially enjoyed the huge breakfast I bought her shortly after. Enjoy this rare and special series!
