Stayin’ Alive
Emma, or as she’s known in the modeling world, Anoush, is a genuine sweetheart. In her early thirties now, she is as soft-spoken and professional as she is womanly and beautiful. I’d never met her before my friend Jessamyne brought her to stay the night at my house. We spent hours talking about life, modeling, photographers in our nationwide community to avoid, models to ignore because of their drama, etc. With no real plan, I set up some lights in my living room against a white wall and began shooting some fun mirror/reflection images, trying my best to not fall asleep since it was already later in the evening when they arrived.
While we shot, Jessamyne sat on my sofa interjecting ideas, laughs, and topics of conversation as she drank all of my Bulleit bourbon. When I felt we had taken enough in there, we somehow ended up shooting some voyeuristic images through my bathroom door, a set-up I regretfully admit to using far too often in the last few months. Still, this didn’t detract from Emma’s lovely shape classing up my tiny joint in the white ghetto of Orcutt, California.
The night when on like that, with us drinking, talking trash, laughing a lot, telling stories, and eventually having them pass out on my sofa bed while I laid in bed attempting to figure out where my life was heading. Enjoy this double series of images!
