DIGITAL DISPLAY

Holy shit! I never posted this series! I just discovered it on my Google Drive and was shocked! So because I suck so much I am posting it here at the Discount $5 Level so many more people can view it!

This was taken on a weekday evening in my living room several months ago. Erika was struggling with her new freedom after breaking up with her longtime boyfriend. It was good for her, it was time to move forward, and in the last few months I have seen her grow and change both physically and mentally so much, it’s like she’s almost a different person.

For this shoot, she was ready to do something new, experiment, try shit out. So i pulled out my old 28mm lens I rarely use, told her to make funky, wild poses, and I sat down almost directly underneath her. In the unprocessed images I think you can see a few times where my ceiling is in the shot, and the corner of my living room is definitely visible several times.

Most of these photos were taken with her balancing precariously on a small chair, and since she can be admittedly clumsy, she almost fell several times, with gravity finally succeeding and dragging her down once (search for that photo, too!).

If I haven’t said it enough times, it bears repeating: Erika is just one of the most special people I know. She’s not just a model; she’s a dear, sweet friend whose will and strength is even more inspiring than her beauty and charming, toothy grin. I love this lady so much, and can’t imagine anyone not agreeing.

And the title? When I was a young, impressional boy back in 1985, the group Ready For The World released the video for their song “Digital Display,” and I thought it was the coolest, dirtiest thing I’d ever seen. Obviously it’s stuck with me since.
