KILLING THEM SOFTLY

It’s no secret to anyone who has seen Zoe’s photos that she is remarkable. Not only is her shape astounding, but her eye contact and presence in her images is remarkable. Originally only having shot with amateur friends, when she modeled for me for the first time back in August of 2017 I couldn’t believe how powerful and confident she conveyed her strength through the lens.

I’d only worked with her twice over three months, but i that time her images had already become legendary. By coaching and careful promotion we helped grow her account to well over 40,000 followers, and she was even contacted to shoot for a feature for a incredibly famous magazine (more coming in the future about that).

By the time we eventually shot in December, she was already planning on moving to Los Angeles. Working on getting representation, her modeling career was now firmly in her grasp, and I could have been more proud of her. I gave her a few last minute tips and advice before her move, then we shot as much as we could in the brief time she had. I had stretched a few garbage bags across a corner of my tiny living room and set up a series of colored lights. I kept moving them around, unsure of exactly what I wanted, until finally things began to click (no pun intended).

I’ve never been fan of mapping out my shoots, preferring the organic nature of creativity and instinct picking up any slack that my skill and practice is lacking. This shoot is a rare example of everything working out, and even though Zoe doubted me when we began shooting this series, she loved the end result. She even apologized to me for not trusting my gut, haha. Hope you like them, let me know what you think int he comments below!
