In Bed with Claudia Lion
As mentioned before, Claudia was simply the best. Not only was she a naturally stunning beauty, but as a model she was on time, kept in great communication (which is so rare), and was elegant and moved seamlessly instead of trying to pose. She was a natural, and clearly was a professional.
Even though she didn’t speak perfect English, she spoke more than enough for us to laugh at each other’s jokes, have genuine and personal conversations, and in one afternoon create a foundation of a true friendship based on professional trust and mutual respect. Since we shot back in July, we have kept in almost constant contact, and I’m so excited to know we have plans to work together in the future. But things aren’t always this easy.
I can’t tell you how many difficult experiences I’ve had. I’m not saying as a photographer that you have to become BFFs with your models, but creating a genuine friendship and a comfortable, familiar relationship with them is key. If you’ve seen me post only one set of models and never again, it was because the models turned out to be cold fish, with either no personality or no interest in being remotely personable or honest with me. It’s always somewhat of a disappointment when there’s no spark during a shoot, but of course, I’m sure there are much worse things in this world.
