Claudia Lion - WHITE LACE

For some reason, I’ve been listening to The Doors almost nonstop in the two days since I was let go from my office job, specifically “Riders on the Storm” and “The End.” Of course, this time of year we all reflect on the year, our lives, new beginning and old regrets. But this year’s surprise developments has been more monumental than usual, and I unexpectedly feel more hope and possibilities about the future than I ever have. This feeling seems forgiven to my nature of being somewhat realistic and negative at times, but I have confidence in myself, my work, and my ability to scrounge and scrap and survive.

And I’ve been determined to make my life more enjoyable. I joined a gym a few months ago, and though I’m the stereotypical overweight guy sweating profusely and huffing and puffing the entire time I’m there, I leave feeling better, more positive, endorphins making me a happier and better version of myself. Though I have been missing more days around the holidays, I was focused on it from August to November, and I can still feel the benefits even from the one or two days a week I’m making time for. With this new open schedule I have, I look forward to going more often at less peak hours.

At Christmas, I usually am invited to numerous parties and gatherings, shunning them all. Instead, I spend the evenings after my family festivities home alone watching Christmas classics like “It’s a Wonderful Life” and “Love Actually.” But this year I was determined to attend every event I was invited to, and I did. Some were more fun than others, but it was surprisingly refreshing and fun to catch up with some people I hadn’t seen in a while, rediscover some good friendships I had somewhat neglected, and remember why I don’t associate with a few people.

And since Friday’s job developments, I’ve been busy. I picked up my nieces and nephew and babysat them from noon Friday to 1pm Sunday. We watched two seasons of Stranger Things, ate a bunch of junk, joked, laughed, and simply had a good time. After I dropped them off, my new friend and model Shaley came by to shoot, and later Jesslyn did as well, but instead of shooting we just sat around drinking whiskey and taking about life and offering each other advice and funny stories in regards to our individual challenges. Eventually the day grew dark, Jess left, and a friend invited me out to a bar to hang out with other friends in town for New Year’s. I convinced Shaley to join me, and lots of silly, drunken dancing ensued. Shaley eventually passed out on my sofa bed and woke up not feeling her best self, but the evening was worth it. And then today I went and shot with my dear friend Erika, who I believe has only gotten more confident and lovely in the last year.

So yes, things are looking up. I have a few creative projects lined up, putting out some job feelers that I may or may not want, and I look forward to the opportunities that arrive in the coming months. I offer you this series of Claudia from Venice, Italy this summer to end the year right, to start off the new year properly, and hopefully maintain a level of quality you’ve come to expect here on Patreon. Thank you thank you thank you all again for your continued support of both myself and my work. I can’t tell you how much this community has meant to me, and I hoe to not let you all down.

Happy New Year! Be safe, have fun, and please tell the people you love how you feel about them! xoxo
