PILGRIMAGE

I don’t think I’ve ever typed this sentence before, but honestly, and I hope I’m not being terribly offensive, but I’ve never been attracted to Asian women. Don’t get me wrong, I find them attractive, but I’ve never felt that sexual drive. Maybe it’s because I grew up around a lot of Filipino women who were always acting so terrible to me and my friends that the idea of them being desirable became repellent to me. But yes, I realize this all makes me sound like a horrible human being. And I probably am.

But all that changed when I met Mongolian model Rosamina. Once again, it sounds unprofessional to admit this, but the moment I met her, I felt an instant attraction. Maybe it was her Australian accented English spoken with an Asian inflection, maybe it was her general confidence and self-aware personality. Maybe it was her creative, artsy nature. But whenever she moved, she appeared to slither. Anytime she rubbed her legs together, I hear a brief musical note. She just exuded a sensuality about her, and I was sold.

Plus, it didn’t hurt that we got along immediately. We were instantly on the same page about photography, posing, lighting, mood, styles, and artists who inspire us. It felt like we had known each other for years, and I was glad when she commented on it as well. She stated it all matter-of-factly, “I like you, you are very smart and fun.” It was as if she were realizing it as the words slipped out of her small mouth.

Later she admitted to having more fun on our shoot than maybe she ever had before, and her comfort and ease with me only helped me like her more. We both were sad when the shoot was over, both separately regretting our busy schedules, and regretting more that we live one massive ocean away from each other. But oh well, isn’t that what life is for, to live with some regrets?
