October $25 Perk

Back in 2011 Sara, a local anthropology major, entered my life. Loud, fun, opinionated, and completely unaware of how entitled she was, kept seeking me out and eventually, after our first shoot, would not leave me alone. She'd message me at all hours, drop by my place on very short notice, and generally just brought her often over-eager energy into my life because...maybe she didn't have anywhere else to be. I'd listen to her rants and boy problems and money issues and complaints about the requirements of adulthood that she sincerely was not ready for. But I'd also reprimand her and tell her she was wrong, probably the first person ever to do so. I'd tell her the problems she was complaining about were in fact her fault, that no amount of schooling meant that she was guaranteed a good job or fairness. That no matter how smart you think you are, you still have dues to pay and there will always be people above you, whether you think they deserve to be or not. She didn't really like this, but she always came back.
Since it rains so rarely here in my part of California, I was eager to shoot someone in it when it happened. Sara was already scheduled to come over that afternoon, so I took her out to my favorite deserted road and she stripped down to almost nothing, dancing in the rain, playing in mud puddles, pretty much doing anything I asked her to do. It got to the point where I asked her to do things that didn't matter to me just to see if she would, and she always did.
