THE GREAT ELLA NOVA

I’m always on the lookout for unknown beauties, and a couple of months ago I found Ella Nova on Instagram. I immediately found her delicate features and pale skin perfect for my work, wondering what her personal boundaries were. Upon a little investigation, I discovered she was an adult film actress, and had been so for a number of year, which of course intrigued me more. I sent her a message and assumed I’d never receive a response.

To my surprise she responded within a day and said she’d be happy to work with me. So three weeks ago, while in LA for a few paid jobs, I made my way to her place just south of downtown LA, a home she shares with several women in her industry. The neighborhood was old but well-kept-up, and as is often the case, you’d never assume the amount of adult content that was filmed and distributed from this unassuming environment.

When Ella greeted me at the door, she looked fresh and eager, a sweet smile on her gentle face. She was happy and accommodating, and let me up to a clean and spacious bedroom that looked perfect for our needs. “Yeah, we film in here all the time,” she said, making me curious to see a scene that was filmed there.

Soon I had some clothing options laid out on the bed and we sorted through them together, then she left the room to change, which I liked, because it showed she was still somewhat shy and protective of herself. And then we started shooting.

Unfortunately, my natural curiosity made her laugh a little too much. Knowing about the adult industry a bit, all my questions made her feel like she was being interviewed, and she mocked me several times asking if I was working for a magazine, which I assured her wasn’t the case. I apologized if I was overstepping my bounds, but she said it was okay, it just made her a little nervous for me to want to know so much about her personally. You always must realize that in the adult industry, since so much of you and your intimacy is exposed, holding on to private information is even more important and personal, since there is very little that you don’t share with the world.

We shot for over an hour, joking, telling stories, etc., and I was pleased that she genuinely liked what we were shooting. Finally, after I had taken over 900 shots, I called it a day, saying I didn’t want to take up any more of her time. I took down my lights while she went out to change, then she gave me a full tour of the surprisingly large house and backyard before giving me a big hug as I left.

I’m not sure if we’ll ever become friends, or even if we’ll shoot again, but I was impressed by her kindness, sincerity, and professionalism, and Ella nova will always have my respect.
