When I first joined Patreon, someone asked me what my goal was. Jokingly, theorizing a number I knew I'd never reach, I blurted out "$5K a month!" This morning I woke up to having reached that goal, and I'll freely admit to my eyes watering. Never in my wildest dreams did I think I'd reach this goal, and even though the numbers fluctuate and it will drop down again at the end of the month, my heart and mind is still reeling.
After living in poverty for over a decade, building up massive amounts of debt during the large recession while still trying to pursue my creative endeavors, YOU, and your continued support on Patreon, has truly and literally changed my life and the lives of those around me. I've been able to pay off most of my debts, finally start putting away some savings, and even help out a few friends and family members when necessary. I've fixed, refurbished, or outright purchased some basic equipment, and most importantly, have been able to not live with that continued sense of panic and dread that most people do month to month. I'm happier, healthier, and even more grateful than ever, and yet there are still no amount of words to truly convey the thankfulness I feel.
I took three days off from my deadening day job last week just to edit photos, and was so focused that I edited for 12-15 hours each of those days just to catch up on my backlog. It was a long, hard slog, but I managed to almost, but not entirely, catch up on most of what I've shot recently, and finally tackled about half of the photos from my recent travels. I probably edited a months worth of work in those short days, and again, I feel as though a huge weight has been greatly lessened off my shoulders. I have so much new work to share with you all, the only hard part will be to space them out and not drop eight thousand new images on your laps.
So once again, thank you all so, so, so much again. You truly humble me with your continued support. I hope to not let you down and promise to continue making work that I value, which I hope you will, also. As always, please feel free to keep engaged with me with your constructive criticism of what you see here, I'm always happy to answer any questions you may have! Be safe out there!
