JUST ONE LOOK

Three weeks ago I had the honor of shooting at the Cricket Ranch, a great home in Van Nuys, Ca., home to a talented artist who just happened to be a fan of mine. I shot with Reed Suicide, who of course many people know as a famous and beautiful model for the Suicide Girls. I’m not a huge fan of tattooed models, as mentioned before, simply because I like my images to appear somewhat timeless and universal. Sadly, a sleeve of tattoos with cupcakes and Bart Simpson don’t really spell out “classic” or “timeless” to me.

But Reed is different. Not only are most of her tattoos below the waist, but her beauty, posture, shape, and gaze, are all as timeless and lovely as the proverbial girl-next-door. Add to this her complete professionalism and desire to do what it takes to get the desired shot, and she turns out to be a perfect model.

With so many sets from this day coming, I’ll stop for now and just say this is one of my favorite sets from the weekend. The red wrap dress, mixed with the flowers and leaves of the hedge, not to mention her eye contact with the camera, could not be more engaging. I hope you like this set as much as we did when creating it.
