POWDER BLUE

If you follow 18 year old Zoe on Instagram, you’ll see her profanity-laden shout-outs to the camera in various videos. She puts on a deep, aggressive, urban tone that makes Black people cringe and conservative America afraid. This makes a lot of people find their perception of her to be questionable, and I get it, but I thankfully was open-minded enough to give her a chance. And turns out I got lucky.

In reality, Zoe’s true personality is nothing like those videos. She is a sweet, relatively shy and quiet kid who blushes and melts at even the faintest of praise. She’s confident about her looks, though can’t seem to understand that others can see what she hopes is staring back at her in the mirror on her best days.

This chapter of her dunes series might be my favorite, simply because the color of the see-through bodysuit matches the sky and contrasts against her skin and hair so well. It was almost too easy to make her look good, and taking credit for how well these images turned out seems like cheating when all I had to do was click the shutter.
