IN PRIVATE PLACES

Ah, Lillias.

This shoot has two of my favorite things, pale skin and mirror reflection. One of the feelings I try to capture is the concept of voyeurism in my images. I like creating the illusion that what you are seeing in my images is a moment you maybe weren’t meant to see.

The feeling of watching, and being watched, has always been in my work, even from my days of drawing and painting. There’s something elicit and naughty about it that I frankly enjoy, and using mirrors, with a model’s back to you, symbolizes this fetish (for the lack of a better term) perfectly.

Secondly, the pale skin. Whether it’s my love of Renaissance art, Kate Winslet’s nude skin in Titanic, or just growing up dark myself and desiring the opposite, I love pale skin. The whiter the better. Are you anemic? PERFECT.

I know it’s silly, but I love the way it looks. Clean, pure, untouched, milky and smooth. I’m a sucker for pale skin, and Lillias just happens to have a great tone over her entire frame.
