HOW A PHOTO SHOOT BEGINS

Most people love hiking for the chance to see animals in their natural habitat. Sometimes, early in the morning, you can find an adorable and fuzzy little rabbit emerging from its slumber, or a young, handsome and steady deer prancing through the leaves. This is the experience one has when witnessing Ashley Lane emerging naked in a hotel bed early on a weekday morning.

Fresh yet drowsy, Ashley emerges from slumber and drags her naked frame from the bed to the shower, making the sarcastic, unhappy noises of a child. She would feel the same way if it was 2pm instead of the 9am that it is, but I don’t rush her and instead wait patiently while perusing Instagram and Tumblr. Eventually she materializes out of the bathroom in a cloud of steam, hair wet and skin supple, one step closer to being ready for our shoot. 

Before arriving with my own key, I had purchased her a breakfast sandwich, so as she flops back down on her bed, she takes turns between putting on her makeup and having a bite of the food. She groans, bends, and squats unattractively, caring more about comfort than poise, yet she somehow still manages to appear adorable and sexy throughout.

It takes her a long while to finish her tasks of prepping and eating, but when she’s finally ready, you can see that her energy meter is blinking at a healthy 100%. She isn’t much for cute, sexy modeling, never very sure of how to pose or move. She hates glamour shots, has no need for slick headshots or high fashion or artsy pics. Her default look is to be naked with her legs spread, being victimized or abused in some erotic way that she can never and will never receive enough of. But still, she does like working with me and enjoys being challenged to make shots that are equal parts beautiful AND explicit.

This is how a photoshoot with Ashley Lane begins, but this is the end of this story.
