THE BEST TEST
FINALLY! The infamous test shoot of Cherish, everyone’s favorite blonde model. The story of how me met has become legendary amongst our small circle of friends, and I believe I typed it out here once before, but I shall do so again.
Cherish and I have been friends since she was 18 years old, almost a full decade ago. The legendary story goes that back in Spring of 2008, I was rushing to the bank to make a midday deposit when I saw this ridiculously gorgeous blonde Barbie doll walking to the ATM. She was wearing this striped-pink body-hugging dress that showed off her incredible shape, and she truly appeared unreal. Stunned at her flawless appearance, especially in my small town, I couldn't help but approach her and ask if she'd be interested in modeling. She looked puzzled at first, and at that point I knew not to belabor my spiel, so I handed her my card, asked her to look at my site, and message me if she'd be interested. With that, I was off into the bank. Moments later, as I was writing on my deposit slip, I looked back out the large glass doors only to discover her standing where I had left her, still appearing just as puzzled and confused as anyone I had ever seen.
Seeing this look on her face, I knew that I would never hear from that blonde goddess and moved on with my life. But to my surprise, only a few days later she sent me an email saying that she recognized several local women on my site from the local community college dance department. Thankfully, the town being so small finally paid off, and she figured if those women had worked with me, I must be at the very least worth giving a chance to. She came over for this test shoot only a few days later, and we hit it off instantly, being friends ever since.
I recall her coming over and being quite shy, which makes some women think she’s stuck up. I never know what to expect with new models, especially then when I was still fairly new, but I gave her the benefit of the doubt. She was quiet and agreeable, and I kept walking on eggshells, asking her if the lighting was okay, showing her pictures on the back of the camera, and repeatedly asking if he was comfortable changing into the dress I had seen her in originally, then into a bikini, then eventually taking her top off.
She was okay with all of it, apart from being minorly nervous about me and the whole situation. After all, we were standing in my ghetto garage surrounded by weird props and costumes in a bad part of town. Still, Cherish was sweet and fun and easy, and said she had so much fun that she’d be open to doing more.
There’s not much more to say, other than you can see in the link to the images just how much fun she is, even at that young age. Her natural proportions are both incredible and ridiculous, and she really did the Genetics Lottery.
Years later, she confessed that she’d been confused by our first encounter, and that she had gone back to her car where her boyfriend was sitting and told him what I had said. He was just as confused as her, yet was supportive and encouraging of her if she wanted to do it. Years later, they are now married and we're all very close friends. I consider it a privilege to have been there to help her through the ups and downs of their relationship, advising her when I thought she was acting a bit nuts, defending him when necessary, and telling her when her biased opinions were just as valid as his. He's a great guy and very supportive of her still, even dropping her off for recent shoots when they visit family in town.
Few people really know about Cherish's tumultuous childhood. Her father was estranged, heavily into drugs and ODed when she was very young. Then, around age 7, Cherish's mother was involved in some dark deeds and was murdered in their home, forcing Cherish to live for a time in protective custody. After a few months, her gay uncle and his longtime partner took her in, becoming the stable parents she had always longed for. Her "dads" had no idea how to raise a little girl, so they spoiled her rotten and never really taught her much about the world, so her teenage years and early twenties were a crash course in learning to not be selfish, and I was there for many hard choices and lessons in her life, helping where I could, explaining when she wasn't seeing the big picture, and letting her make mistakes because she needed to learn those lessons.
Sadly, most women I know don't like Cherish. Not for any particular reason, they just think she's stuck up. As often happens, this idea is based on her looks, which makes people assume she's bitchy and uptight. In fact, she is often very shy in new situations, and her not talking out of insecurity is seen by other women as her being snooty and feeling superior. I've had the honor of getting to know her quite well over the years, and if people knew Cherish's childhood background, I think they'd give her much more social leeway.
So what do you think? Did you like my dear buddy, Cherish? Would you like to see more of our old shoots from 2008? Please let me know! Leave comments in the box below or in my DMs! I truly appreciate all of your continued support!!
