Unfortunately, I failed to take into account the season, which, from our latitude, slightly adjusts the angle of the sunset further up the coast. Thus, the sun set just a few degrees to the right, over the cliffs that overlook the beach, rather than on the water itself. I felt like a jerk for having promised her, but she hid her disappointment well. We continued to shoot a few last images before she lit a cigarette and enjoyed the view overlooking the water, with the sun setting just over her right shoulder.
Sigh. Best laid plans.
