The woman who owned the house, the wonderful, generous daughter of a friend, had said for weeks that "the pool is yours whenever you want it" or "do whatever you want, I can handle it all!" But as so often happens in those cases, when I finally called to arrange the shoot, she made more and more qualifications about the pool. After a week of negotiation, scheduling and restrictions were finally arranged, and even once we got there, the home owner seemed worried and continued to ask when we would be done. The intensity and mood cast a subtle shadow over the entire shoot.
This is always an issue when relying on a third party, and I know people have their own lives, but then why volunteer? I make it a point to only offer my time and energy for people I will drop other plans for, to those who seem worthy, and don't spread myself thin when I don't mean to. I just wish others thought that way.
