Added 2016-01-11 22:13:54 +0000 UTCOnce again, my talented friend Ian Flanigan shot behind the scenes footage of me working, this time with the beautiful Hattie Watson.
Though Hattie is known for her red hair, tattoos, and natural beauty, she is so much more than that. Creative, thoughtful, very smart and interminably shy, I considered it a true measure of success being able to make her audibly laugh and crack-up during our time together.
It was a treat to work with a model that has as much experience as Hattie. She's "been there/done that," so even though she knows the dark pitfalls of the modeling world, she tries hard to rise above it and have fun any way she can.
I had met Hattie once before, a few years before this as she was driving from SF to LA. I had arranged to interview her and asked if she could stop by my place in Santa Maria on the way. She was polite and agreeable, and her only restrictions for those photos were that she could wear her own clothes in order to present her real self.
The day of this video, I was still experimenting with my long-exposure flash-drag colored lighting and she was open to trying it out before the more straightforward, "nude woman in the light" kind of images we shot later that afternoon.
If you ever have the chance, hire this special lady, she's far more approachable than you would think.
