I did not realize they were a bad socialist until I realized how well known they were - and then Sands was a fan, which cemented my doubts. (I may have read this all in one night.) Having a pop-sci writer as a protag is excellent.

I must say, that your naming choice for Arboreans is quite lovely, because in my native language - Lithuanian, we use a lot of plant-based names, especially tree and flower. Lina is one of them, meaning flax, so it makes this story a bit more relatable to me. In fact, my own sister is named Spruce (Eglė) so having the main character have a sibling named Fir is just so cool!
