Major Update: System Overhauls and the New Liquid System
The latest build features an altered battle engagement system and a liquid application/removal system with various new functionalities. I've also thoroughly overhauled the minigame system to eliminate bugs and ensure the game runs more reliably.
System Overhaul: The Intrusion System
The new system introduced last week unfortunately had several issues, including overly long obstruction times, minigames overlapping one another, and incorrect CG image transparency. I apologize for the poor initial implementation of this content, and we have fully overhauled the system based on player feedback.
Here are the key changes:
Node Separation: Each minigame now runs on a separate node and will no longer overlap. This allows multiple games to run concurrently without issues. The minigame designated as the "scene controlling" one will take priority and be responsible for pausing or stopping the main gameplay.
Intrusion Minigame Rework: The Intrusion minigame is now significantly shorter and more transparent, allowing the player to see through it easily. We've shortened the duration from five seconds to two seconds. The system is now intended to be a light inconvenience with a small, earned bonus if the player reacts quickly.
New Minigame Added: A third, new minigame has been added. Though it features an entirely new system with multiple interacting nodes, it does not affect the existing minigames and has been successfully integrated.
The Liquid System
We're excited to introduce a major new system as the third component of the field engagement minigame: the Liquid System.
This liquid is sticky and may splatter onto the player when they take damage from enemy attacks. While it slightly obscures the player's sight, this substance is the same DNA you can collect from enemies and can be harvested by clicking on it.
The liquid has a number of unique properties and interactions:
Temporary State: The liquid is temporary and will naturally disappear after a short duration even if you don't manually remove it. It will slowly slide down and become more transparent due to the player's violent movements.
Interactivity:
Mousing over it will cause liquid particles to protrude.
Clicking on it brushes the substance away, making it slightly more transparent and potentially granting DNA points (which will be displayed by the liquid itself).
After six attempts of manual removal, the liquid will fully disappear.
Location: The liquid's locations are not completely random and are designed to avoid being overly annoying, even if you take multiple hits.
Since you cannot shoot while harvesting these precious DNA points, the system introduces a new strategic choice, allowing players to choose between a violent, high-action run or a more pacifist, hit-and-run path.
Next Steps
The monthly and weekly files have already been updated (updated as fast as I could). You can use the same links with the same passwords, as they have not been changed. Public versions of the game will also be updated soon.
