The latest build features a new battle intercourse system, including two new CG scenes. This update introduces a new gameplay mechanism that will impact the core gameplay, so future updates will include adjustments to balance the system.
New System Introduced: The Intrusion System
We've updated the game with a new gameplay mechanic. This mechanism was actually intended to be the original battle intercourse system, and traces of it were in the very early updates of the game (though only from the main character's perspective). Since my programming and drawing techniques have significantly improved since then, I am finally able to complete what I originally set out to do.
As you can see in the accompanying image, this update focuses on the more realistic elements of battle intercourse. When you are attacked by an enemy, there is a low chance that the enemy will grab hold of you. This won't damage you or slow you down (as that would be unnecessarily annoying), but it will obscure your vision. To remove the enemy, you have a few options.
Dealing with the Xeno
Since the game won't pause while you deal with your obscured vision, the initial method for removal is simple: you just need to wait five seconds while moving away from other enemies. (Alternatively, you can dive straight into other enemies; the original battle intercourse system will cancel the live battle CG, removing the effect.) The green bar in the lower left of the screen will fill up, and the enemy will detach itself.
However, if you want to obtain something valuable from your 'memorable' experience, you'll need to play a minigame.
To play the minigame: Press and hold the large square button, and the bar in the middle will rise. If you release the button, the bar will fall. 'Play' with the Xeno by adjusting the bar to the desired location, and the green bar will fill. Once the Xeno reaches its daily quota, it will detach itself, and you will receive a stat or DNA bonus based on your actions. Of course, you can also just press the 'button' until it gradually detaches on its own.
Future Adjustments
This mechanism is currently added to Chapter One and includes two variants of the CG scenes. More CG scenes with similar, but slightly different, mechanics will be added to Chapter Two. As a punishment for Rey's "cheeky behavior," Kate will leave him alone with multiple burly insectoids. Rey will have to survive, armless and glossy, without any assistance. Other options may also appear, none of them particularly friendly to Rey.
The 3D modeling shenanigans were originally planned for a punishment maze for Rey made by Kate. However, I scrapped that idea because the models didn't match the game's style (the pixel shaders had their limits), and the maze was causing motion sickness for testers (me). I'll trim those elements down and use them for future content when they're ready and safe.
The weekly files have been updated. The monthly files have also been updated, as promised. This week's vote is regarding my patrons' preferences for the types of CG scenes.
