King of Idols C2 System

Sakuragaoka High School. A name synonymous with excellence in the arts and music.

Yet it was a name that should have existed only in the realm of fiction, confined to the pages of the manga "Reigning Superstars".

It had no business being real. As the principal exited the stage and the entrance ceremony proceeded, Renji turned to the student beside him, a question burning on his lips. "Hey, this school...it's really called Sakuragaoka?"

The student's gaze was frosty as it met Renji's. "Tch. Don't bother me. I don't waste my time on idiots."

Renji's mouth snapped shut, a flush of indignation rising in his cheeks. 'Well excuse me for asking,' he thought bitterly.

Whispers and snickers rippled through the students around them, their disdain palpable. "Get a load of the new guy. Doesn't even know the name of the school he's attending."

"Guess they'll let anyone in these days."

"What a joke. He won't last a week."

Renji tried to tune out their mockery, his mind racing. So this really was Sakuragaoka High...but what did that mean?

Had he somehow been transported into the world of his favorite manga, destined to walk the same halls as its beloved characters?

It seemed impossible. Then again, so did the fact that mere moments ago, he had been staring down the grill of an oncoming truck, his life flashing before his eyes.

Now, he found himself inhabiting an unfamiliar body in an equally unfamiliar school.

A thought struck him: perhaps this was some sort of parallel world, and the name Sakuragaoka was merely a coincidence, a cruel trick of fate meant to toy with his already reeling psyche.

As the entrance ceremony concluded and the students began to disperse, Renji remained rooted in place, his thoughts churning.

If this truly was the world of "Reigning Superstars", then Renji held a significant advantage. His intimate knowledge of the major plot points could be leveraged to great effect.

He could pursue the path of a superstar, rising to heights that matched—or even exceeded—those of the main characters he had once admired from afar.

But if this world was not the one from the manga...well, then he would simply dedicate himself to the pursuit of wealth.

Armed with his knowledge of future trends and breakthroughs, he could make shrewd investments and amass a fortune that would render his old life a distant memory.

Yet as soon as that thought crossed his mind, Renji felt a pang of emptiness. "What would I actually do with all that money?" he muttered, his brow furrowing.

He was at a loss. Sure, he could emulate the wealthy elite he'd observed in his previous life—indulging in excess, chasing fleeting pleasures, allowing himself to devolve into a gluttonous, lust-driven husk of a man.

But wasn't that precisely the kind of person he held in contempt? Would he truly find satisfaction in becoming the very thing he despised?

A life without purpose, without a driving passion...even if he achieved unimaginable wealth, wouldn't he just be surviving? Going through the motions, a pitiful excuse for a human being?

Shaking his head as if to dislodge these existential musings, Renji rose from his seat and made his way to the main hall, hands jammed into his pockets.

As he settled into his new classroom, Renji found himself observing his classmates with detached curiosity as they stood to introduce themselves one by one.

Then a shock of ginger hair caught his eye, and his breath hitched in his throat. The young man rose to his feet, a confident smirk playing on his lips.

"Aizawa Souta," he declared, his voice smooth as silk. "My dream is to become a star that shines brighter than all the rest. Just you wait—soon, the whole world will know my name."

A chorus of sighs and giggles erupted from the female students, their eyes alight with admiration for the handsome young man before them.

As Souta took his seat, Renji's mind raced. 'Souta! The snake who tore Arise apart, the cancer that nearly destroyed everything Haruto had worked for!'

He couldn't tear his gaze away, his eyes boring into Souta with an intensity that bordered on hatred.

In the pages of "Reigning Superstars", Souta's true colors had eventually been exposed for all to see. The infidelity, the manipulation, the endless scandals...his misdeeds had dragged the entire group down into the muck with him.

Souta, perhaps sensing the weight of Renji's stare, glanced over and met his gaze. But where Renji had expected a challenge, he found only a genial smile and a nod of acknowledgment.

Caught off guard, Renji could only nod back, a tight smile plastered on his face.

Suddenly, a flood of unfamiliar memories surged through his mind. Memories that belonged to this body, this life. His name was still Renji—Hoshikawa Renji, he now realized with a jolt.

But before he could begin to process this revelation, the teacher's voice cut through his thoughts. "Hoshikawa-kun? You're up."

Flustered, Renji stumbled to his feet, his introduction stilted and awkward. "Ah, um...Hoshikawa Renji. I...I like music? And, uh...yeah. That's...that's it."

He could feel the weight of his classmates' judgmental stares, hear the poorly muffled snickers at his ineptitude. Out of the corner of his eye, he caught sight of Souta hiding a smirk behind his hand.

"Get a load of this guy, can't even string a sentence together."

"And what's with that face? Definitely not winning any beauty contests, that's for sure."

Cheeks burning with humiliation, Renji collapsed back into his seat, wishing he could disappear.

Suddenly, a strange ringing filled his ears, drowning out the ambient chatter of the classroom. A voice, robotic yet strangely compelling, echoed through his mind:

[Greetings, Hoshikawa Renji. You have been selected to have a choice to have the Idol System. Do you accept?]

[Acceptance: Access to the Idol System and all its features.]

[Refusal: Return to your previous world in your injured state.]

Renji's eyes widened, his heart pounding against his ribs. What was this?

Reading the acceptance and refusal conditions, Renji made his decision without hesitation.

'Hmph, even if I wasn't injured, I'd never go back to that world!' he thought to himself, his gaze locked on the 'Acceptance' option. The choice was crystal clear.

With a determined tap, Renji selected "Yes". Instantly, the system sprang to life, its robotic voice now tinged with excitement.

[Congratulations, Hoshikawa Renji! By accepting the Idol System, you have taken the first step towards becoming the most famous and beloved idol in history! Your journey to superstardom begins now!]

'An idol, huh?' Renji mused, stroking his chin thoughtfully. 'I always dreamed of making it big in the music industry...but an idol? That's a whole different ballgame.'

He mulled it over for a moment before shrugging, a wry grin tugging at his lips. "Eh, close enough. A stage is a stage, right?"

Lost in his own little world, Renji failed to notice the bewildered stares of his classmates nearby. Sitting just beside him, they exchanged uneasy glances, each silently questioning the sanity of the peculiar student who appeared to be talking to himself.

But Renji paid them no mind, his thoughts consumed by the incredible opportunity that had just fallen into his lap. The Idol System...his ticket to fame, fortune, and a life beyond his wildest dreams.

And to think, just moments ago, he had been on the brink of death, his future nothing more than a bleak, unfulfilled wasteland.

Now, the world was his oyster. And Hoshikawa Renji was resolved to make the most of every single second.
