King of Games C53 Strange Assassin

Shinro's eyes narrowed as he studied the young woman who had suddenly appeared in his office. The hairs on the back of his neck prickled, and a chill ran down his spine. Something about her presence felt... wrong.

"So... Karura, is it? What brings you here?" Shinro's hand inched towards the desk drawer where he kept a hidden weapon.

Karura's lips curled into a smirk. "Do you really need to know?" In a blur of motion, she closed the distance between them. Her whisper tickled his ear, "I'm here to kill you."

Shinro's heartbeat thundered in his ears as adrenaline surged through his veins. Time seemed to slow as Karura's leg whipped toward his head.

But Shinro was no ordinary man. The powers he'd absorbed from his worlds hummed beneath his skin. He twisted, the kick whistling past his ear close enough to ruffle his hair.

With inhuman speed, Shinro vaulted backward, putting distance between himself and his assailant. His feet had barely touched the ground when a resounding crack split the air.

Karura's heel smashed through the polished mahogany of Shinro's desk, sending splinters and paperwork flying. The antique furniture groaned, collapsing in on itself as Karura wrenched her leg free.

Their eyes locked across the wreckage.

Karura's eyes widened, her jaw slackening as she reassessed the man before her. "This is... unexpected," she murmured, a new tension coiling in her muscles.

Shinro's gaze hardened, his voice dropping an octave. "Who sent you?"

A dry chuckle escaped Karura's lips. "An assassin never reveals her employer." She blurred into motion, closing the gap between them in an eye-blink.

Shinro's brow furrowed, his stance shifting subtly. "You're treading a dangerous path, young lady."

"Hmph." Karura's snort was barely audible as she pivoted, materializing behind her target.

Time seemed to slow. Shinro's eyes gleamed with an otherworldly light. As Karura's leg arced towards his head, his hand shot up, catching her ankle mid-strike. The impact reverberated through the room, yet Shinro didn't budge an inch.

He leaned in close, his breath hot on her ear. "You're out of your depth here."

Karura's eyes flew wide, shock etched across her features. Her teeth ground together, a strangled sound escaping her throat as she wrenched herself away. She stumbled back, her usual grace abandoning her as the realization of her miscalculation sank in.

Karura's eyes darted over Shinro, reassessing. His frame was slight, almost delicate compared to the hulking figures she was accustomed to. No rippling muscles, no towering height. Yet he had effortlessly countered her attack.

Shinro's posture loosened, a casual smile playing at his lips. "Do you see now?" He tsked softly. "You're punching above your weight class, little one."

Karura's jaw clenched, her nails digging crescents into her palms. At fifteen, this was to be her crowning achievement for the Kure family. Failure wasn't an option.

With a feral snarl, she lunged. Her fingers straightened into a deadly spear, aimed for Shinro's throat. In a heartbeat, her wrist was caught in an iron grip.

Shinro's laughter echoed through the office. "Is that truly all you have?"

Silence stretched between them. Then, with alarming ease, Shinro lifted Karura by her captured wrist. Her toes dangled inches from the floor as he brought her face level with his own. His free hand stroked his chin thoughtfully, amusement dancing in his eyes.

"I asked you a question, little assassin," he murmured, their noses almost touching. "Is that really all you can muster?"

Shinro's brow furrowed as he studied the girl's face. Instead of the fear or anger he'd anticipated, a rosy hue bloomed across Karura's cheeks. Her pupils dilated, gaze locked onto his features with an intensity that made him shift uncomfortably.

"Oh, this... This must be a dream..." The words tumbled from her lips in a breathy whisper.

Shinro's grip on her wrist loosened slightly, his head cocking to one side. The predatory gleam in Karura's eyes had transformed into something else entirely – something he couldn't quite place.

Her free hand twitched, as if fighting the urge to reach out and touch him. Her breath quickened, small puffs of air warming the scant space between them.

Shinro's confusion deepened as he noticed Karura's pulse racing beneath his fingers, but not from exertion or fear. Her lips parted slightly, eyes roaming his face with newfound appreciation.

The tension in the room shifted, charged with an entirely different kind of energy than moments before. Shinro found himself at a loss, unprepared for this sudden and bewildering change in his would-be assassin.

What Shinro failed to realize was that Karura had just experienced an epiphany. His firm grip on her wrist had awakened something within her - she had finally encountered her ideal man, one of true strength.

Despite Shinro's unassuming appearance, his power was undeniable. Karura felt as though she had stepped into a dream, especially as her gaze lingered on Shinro's handsome features. The world around her seemed to fade, leaving only this moment of unexpected attraction.

Shinro's voice cut through the air like a whip. "Hey, I'm asking you a question!"

Karura blinked rapidly, her dreamy expression dissolving. A shy smile crept across her face, her cheeks still flushed. "Al-alright. I'll tell you my employer, but on one condition..."

Shinro's brows knitted together, wariness creeping into his voice. "What?"

"You must marry me." The words tumbled out of Karura's mouth, clear and direct despite the deepening blush spreading across her face.

Shinro's jaw slackened, his grip on her wrist loosening further. He shook his head slightly, as if trying to clear water from his ears. "What? I didn't hear you clearly."

Karura's gaze dropped to the floor for a moment before meeting his eyes again. Her voice was softer this time, but no less determined. "I said, I'll tell you my employer, if... if you marry me..." She twisted a strand of hair around her finger, the picture of bashfulness, yet her eyes never left his face.

The office fell silent, the only sound the soft ticking of a clock on the wall as Shinro struggled to process this bizarre turn of events.

Shinro's finger wavered as he pointed at himself, his eyes wide with disbelief. "You want to marry... me?"

Karura's head bobbed enthusiastically, her pigtails bouncing with the motion.

Shinro's hand moved to his head, fingers raking through his hair as he struggled to make sense of the situation. "I don't know what you're plotting, young lady, but if this is some elaborate scheme to—"

"It's not to kill you!" Karura's vehement denial cut through his words. Her head shook vigorously, pigtails whipping back and forth.

Shinro's brow furrowed deeper. "Then what exactly are you planning?"

Karura paused, her teeth worrying her bottom lip for a moment. "The truth is..." She took a deep breath, her words tumbling out in a rush. "I've sensed your power... You are strong... I realized you are my kind of man!"

Her eyes lit up with an almost feverish intensity. "We could create healthy, powerful, and strong babies!"

Shinro's mouth opened, then closed, then opened again. No words came out. He stood frozen, hand still tangled in his hair, staring at the young assassin as if she'd sprouted a second head. The ticking of the clock seemed to grow louder in the stunned silence that followed.

Shinro gently lowered Karura to the floor, taking a step back to put distance between them. His voice was soft but firm. "I don't think I could fulfill such a request, young lady."

Karura's face fell, her shoulders slumping. "Why?" she asked, her voice small. "Is it because I'm... I'm ugly?"

Shinro's head snapped back and forth. "No, on the contrary, you're quite beautiful—" He raised a hand as Karura's eyes began to light up. "But!"

He took a deep breath, his gaze wandering to the window overlooking the bustling city. "I'm not ready for that kind of commitment. My company, the games we create, the gamers we serve... they require all of my focus right now. So I have to decline—"

A low growl cut him off. Karura's hands were balled into fists, her teeth bared in frustration. "I'll not give up!" she declared, her voice ringing through the office. In the blink of an eye, she was gone, leaving only a gust of wind in her wake.

Shinro exhaled slowly, his hand running down his face. The silence of the empty office settled around him like a heavy blanket.

His eyes drifted to the splintered remains of his desk, then to the spot where Karura had stood moments ago. A thoughtful frown creased his brow as he considered the implications of her superhuman speed and strength. Perhaps this world he found himself in was more complex than he had initially believed.
