Chapter 15 Revchi's meets the senior

Revchi embarked on his journey to the capital, weaving his creation magic into existence. Chains materialized into a carriage-like vehicle, adorned with a rotating copter made entirely of chains, spinning at breakneck speeds. The vehicle's spider-like arms anchored it firmly to the ground for terrestrial travel, but Revchi sought swifter means.

As he entered the vehicle, it soared into the sky, propelled by jet-like chains powered by his newly acquired Dark Magic. Revchi traversed from the depths of the forsaken realm toward the royal capital.

In just a few short hours, he reached the outskirts of the capital, where a protective barrier stood. But he didn't worry too much. As long as he played his cards right, he'd be fine.

Revchi employed Transformation Magic: Shadowform. His body morphed, shedding all scars, restoring a youthful visage closely resembling his original appearance. His new face radiated life, free of the blemishes of his past.

Inside the capital, Revchi, armed with information from his master, Light, knew the vice-captain of the Crimson Lions was headed this way. Upon entry, an unexpected sensation surged within him – his death flame stirred, connecting mysteriously with another.

"It must be William," Revchi speculated, perplexed by this unexpected connection between their death flames.

"Don't dwell on the unnecessary," came Light's voice, echoing within Revchi's mind, who, despite his surprise, couldn't help but admire his master's ability to communicate across such vast distances – from the forsaken realm to the royal capital.

...

Meanwhile, within the confines of Asta and Yuno's room, Light appeared to be slumbering peacefully alongside them. However, the subtle furrowing of his brows betrayed his deep concentration. He needed to maintain a profound focus to facilitate communication between Revchi and the link connecting Revchi and William's death flames.

Sensing Revchi's lingering curiosity, Light projected his thoughts into Revchi's mind, breaking the silence. "It was through my influence that you could sense William's death flame. This implies that you now have knowledge of his whereabouts within the Clover Kingdom's royal capital," Light reminded, the weight of his words sinking in. "And remember, William can also sense you."

...

Revchi's nerves churned as Light's words echoed in his mind. He had crossed paths with several vice-captains during his time as a Magic Knight, even establishing relationships with the likes of Gueldre, the current captain of the Purple Orca. But this was an entirely different encounter – meeting a senior in his newfound occupation.

Revchi's Death Flame pulsed with a newfound connection, leading him to a specific location – a tavern. The anticipation of what lay ahead coursed through him as he prepared to embark on this unique encounter.

...

Within the tavern, William exuded an air of unwavering confidence and authority. Unlike Revchi, there was no need for him to conceal his appearance or resort to transformations. He sat there comfortably, clad in his squad's iconic robe – a striking red mantle with a distinctive split down the front and slits over the shoulders. An attached fabric scarf gracefully encircled his neck, and the squad's emblem adorned the back of his robe.

Time had brought forth significant changes. William's visage had matured, bearing the marks of experience. He possessed the countenance and aura befitting the Vice Captain of the Crimson Lions, exuding the wisdom of a seasoned veteran.

Remarkably, as William lingered in the tavern, not even his fellow Magic Knights of the Crimson Lion harbored suspicions. It was well-known that William, the Vice Captain, was a commoner who found solace in these taverns. His presence there was unremarkable, his reputation for such visits overshadowed by his impressive stature within the squad.

This truth was substantiated during Captain Fuegoleon's investigation of William before promoting him to the esteemed position of Vice Captain.

The gathered information painted a colorful past for William Rozlee – a man who had squandered money on drinks in taverns, frequently ejected from such establishments. His track record wasn't without darker shades; he was known to have resorted to bullying and robbery when his pockets ran dry, all for the sake of procuring alcohol.

Fuegoleon's reservations were substantial, hesitant to elevate an individual with such a dubious history, regardless of their talents. However, William managed to sway the captain's judgment, persuading Fuegoleon that he had genuinely changed since those reckless days.

As he continued to drink in the tavern, the usual boisterous and rowdy atmosphere had strangely fallen into an eerie silence, a testament to the unique presence William commanded in the tavern.

Sitting beside William was another individual clad in a similar robe, a young man with short, shaggy orange hair and a scar beneath his right eye.

"Vice Captain Rozlee, is the Captain of the Purple Orca truly as corrupt and cunning as you claim?" Forte couldn't shake his disbelief upon hearing the information regarding Gueldre Poizot, the Captain of the Purple Orca, from Vice Captain William.

"Silence... What I told you earlier is true," William whispered sternly, fixing his gaze upon the young Forte.

"I apologize, Vice Captain..." Forte offered his apology, his expression filled with remorse.

With that, William fell into silence, quietly sipping his drink. Forte couldn't help but feel a twitch in his mouth, convinced that the Vice Captain's presence in the tavern was more than just for a drink.

Forte Gris was known for his unwavering dedication to his duties as a Magic Knight. Yet, his Vice Captain seemed unusually casual.

"If not for his peculiar magic, he wouldn't have been promoted," Forte thought bitterly.

As doubts swirled within Forte, the tavern's entrance swung open, and Revchi made his entrance. He took a seat beside William, and in a quick, silent exchange of side glances, an unspoken understanding passed between them.
