In the end, Sharkler ended up staying in Adrian's room for the night.
Initially, Adrian had been curious whether it would be uncomfortable for Sharkler to lie down with his long shark tail, but Sharkler's flexibility turned out to be surprisingly good. He could coil his tail to the side like a braid, and it didn't hinder him from lying down.
Early the next morning, Adrian strapped on his regular weights and the Tom weights and prepared to go out for his morning exercise while also planning to visit the carpenters.
Sharkler immediately expressed his intention to join in. "How can I miss out on exercising like this?"
So, the scene of their run today looked a bit peculiar. While the others were jogging, Sharkler was more like speed walking.
And then, Sharkler got beaten up.
"Adrian, run!"
"Damn fishman, don't you dare hurt Adrian!"
"This is our human island, get out!"
The attackers were a group of well-intentioned neighbors and passersby who saw them running and mistakenly thought Sharkler was a fishman chasing after Adrian.
Some threw debris at Sharkler, while others approached with brooms or chairs ready to strike.
"Ouch!" Sharkler accidentally got hit, though he had no idea why.
"Misunderstanding! Misunderstanding!" Adrian, Artoria, and Rui Mengmeng quickly surrounded Sharkler, shielding him from the oncoming attackers.
"He's a robot, not a fishman!"
Adrian found himself in a somewhat laughable situation. On one hand, these people were trying to help him, but on the other hand, their racial biases were deeply ingrained.
"So, it really is a robot?" The crowd hesitated, but it did seem like a lump of metal.
"Thank you all for your concern. This is our tavern's newly arrived robot, Sharkler," Adrian introduced.
"That's right, I'm Sharkler." Although Sharkler was still confused, he complied by tapping his chest to produce a metallic sound.
It seemed that B-series robots had some regulations against using force against ordinary people. Even when Roach Bully and the others were struggling and hungry on the streets, they were thinking of finding jobs to earn money rather than resorting to robbing with their super transformation abilities.
Additionally, Sharkler had become much more gentle than before, so he didn't immediately retaliate against the inexplicable attack.
"So, it really is a robot. What's with you, buying such a robot?" someone in the crowd asked.
"He wasn't bought... Anyway, don't you guys think Sharkler looks cool?" Adrian felt there was no need to explain too much. He could let them gradually understand in the future.
"After you mention it, he does look quite handsome," once they understood that he wasn't a fishman, the people's attitudes immediately became more friendly. They shifted to being interested in Sharkler's functions and whether he could transform.
Adrian offered a few brief responses and suggested they could come to the tavern to chat when they had time. Afterward, he led his group away.
"Why did they act like that? And what's a fishman?" To avoid misunderstandings, Sharkler ran alongside Adrian, curious about the term he had heard.
"Have you heard of the term 'racial discrimination'?" Adrian asked.
Sharkler nodded, a feat he had learned to do.
Adrian explained the concept and told him about the fishman race and the situation on the island. "I didn't have time to tell you last night, and I didn't consider it this morning when we went out. I'm sorry for putting you in this situation."
"It's okay, it was just a misunderstanding," Sharkler replied nonchalantly. "But I didn't expect such a magical race to exist here."
Adrian continued, "It's not just that. Apart from the fishmen, there are giant tribes, dwarf tribes, and more. The tavern has many books about the basic knowledge of this world. You can take a look when we get back."
Sharkler confidently stated, "No problem, I have a strong ability to learn. If there's too much information, I can try activating my sleep-learning function."
Rui Mengmeng asked, "What's the sleep-learning function? Do you learn while you sleep?"
Sharkler explained, "You could say that, but for me, it's a process of entering a sleep state and recording data. Once the data is recorded, I can directly grasp the knowledge."
"That's so convenient, I'm so envious," Rui Mengmeng replied. Her academic performance was not great, so she envied this ability.
"Although it's convenient, I won't misuse it, because sleep learning also carries risks." Sharkler said, "For example, my friend Maru Dragon's sleep-learning process was interrupted accidentally, which resulted in him suffering from prosopagnosia, an inability to recognize faces. So, he became the subject of many jokes."
Maru Dragon's partner was a super beautiful female officer named Nakano Miki, yet he would mistake people due to his prosopagnosia, truly becoming the embodiment of "doesn't know his wife is beautiful."
After leaving the crowd, the group from the tavern headed to the coastline to avoid trouble. They followed the coast and arrived at the dock where Goodman worked.
"Good morning, Uncle. This is Sharkler, the new robot at our tavern," Adrian introduced before Goodman could jump to any conclusions.
"Uh, yeah, good morning," Goodman leaned his axe against his waist, a little baffled for a moment. "Did you just say this is a robot?"
"Hello, I'm Sharkler," Sharkler patted his chest, producing a metallic sound.
"A robot? And it can transform?" The commotion attracted a group of curious shipyard workers, including Goodman's son, Byle. They gathered around Sharkler, their eyes gleaming.
Without waiting for Adrian to intervene, Sharkler struck up a conversation with the shipyard workers. Soon, they were all chatting and joking, becoming fast friends.
Adrian could only sigh at how adept someone who had held high-ranking positions in the past was at socializing. This was definitely a "social bull."
After spending some time with Sharkler, Goodman eventually asked, "Is there something you need today, young man?"
"I came to ask a few carpenters for help with renovating the house." Adrian explained his request and asked Goodman to introduce him to some workers. "I remember you mentioning before that you could send some shipyard workers to build houses, right?"
Goodman waved his hand broadly. "Why bother finding others? I can help you with the renovations!"
Adrian asked, "Would it not affect your work?"
"Super transformation!" Sharkler's voice rang out from the crowd.
A chorus of admiration followed, "So cool!" "So handsome!" "It's amazing!"
Goodman gestured toward the crowd. "Do you see anyone here looking like they're busy?"
As he spoke, Goodman's gaze couldn't help but shift to the center of the crowd. This was a robot—a transforming robot! It would be even cooler if it could shoot laser beams!
Robots seemed to be more easily welcomed among the shipyard workers. It was likely that many of them were thinking about whether they could build a robot of their own.
Adrian thought for a moment. It did seem like they weren't very busy right now. "Then, I'll trouble you, Uncle."
