Gaara: Well, getting to the main point, I wanted to tell you something, Narumi.
Naruto (teasing): Is it a love confession or something?
Gaara: Nah, that can wait. I wanted to thank you for saving my life.
Naruto (thinking): (Wait, don’t tell me he’s actually considering it. I’m flattered.) Well, you don’t have to thank me. I mean, you saved me too, didn’t you?
Gaara: Still, I...
Naruto: You can just take me out for some good food. I’m hungry, that should be thanks enough.
Gaara: Is that so? Shall we go then?
Naruto: Wait, right now?
Gaara: Is there a problem?
Naruto: Nope, let me get ready. You can wait outside. Sorry about pushing you out of your own room, by the way. (smiles)
Gaara: Ah, that’s nothing. I’ll be waiting outside, okay?
Naruto: Hmm.
Naruto felt a bit more uncomfortable than usual. He was more self-conscious about his appearance.
Naruto (thinking): Wait, I don’t have anything to wear. (walks out)
He glanced at Gaara, who was waiting patiently outside the room, his usual stoic expression softened slightly with concern.
Naruto: Uh, Gaara-san… I don’t have anything else to wear. My other clothes aren’t here.
Gaara: I noticed. I had some clothes brought for you. They should be in the closet. I thought they might be more comfortable for you.
Naruto went to the closet and found a pink dress. It was long and reached below his knees.
Naruto: Will this look good? (Naruto had never been this conscious about his looks before.)
After about 10 minutes, Naruto came out. Gaara glanced at him, taking in his appearance from head to toe.
Gaara: You look beautiful.
Naruto: I don’t think so. I didn’t have any footwear, makeup, or even fragrance. I had to use yours.
Gaara: Should we get you some of those things, then?
Naruto: No, I mean, I have those at home. Why would I need spares?
Gaara: Uhm, I don’t know. You might want to keep spares here.
Naruto: What do you mean?
Gaara: Nothing, forget about it. Let’s go and deal with your hunger. You haven’t had a good meal in the last two days.
Naruto: Gaara-sama, if you don’t mind me asking, what’s that bag you’re holding?
Gaara: Hmm, it’s just the chakra crystal I bought.
Naruto: I see. Did you finish filling it with chakra and are finally going to get jewelry made out of it?
Gaara: Exactly.
Naruto: Is it for someone special?
Gaara: Maybe, maybe not. Let’s drop it for now and start walking. I don’t want to carry an unconscious Narumi around.
Naruto (smiles): Is that so? I guess the princess carry is going to remain a dream for me then.
