Slight Delay
Added 2023-07-14 14:28:28 +0000 UTCHey guys,
You may remember I mentioned that I was going to be away from home and my writing computer for a few days. (But that I would schedule the chapter).
Well I had planned to schedule the chapter on Wednesday, but I crashed and burned that day with what might have been a 24-hour illness or might have just been extreme fatigue mixed with good old-fashioned muscle soreness.
So anyway, I knew I still needed to post the chapter, but I hadn't done my right-before-posting proofreading pass that somehow never catches all the errors, and I still wanted to do that.
So I transferred the chapter from my writing computer (iMac) to Dropbox, accessible from my (Windows) laptop, because I'd heard we were going to a place that would have WiFi and I could handle it on Thursday evening.
Except when we arrived I discovered that I had packed the WRONG laptop charging cord. So, after some struggle, I found a cord that would work and charged the laptop.
Only to discover that the chapter is not, in fact, in Dropbox. At this point, I was flabbergasted.
There is a cloud backup of the entire Scrivener project, but it's in iCloud. Scrivener projects DON'T WORK with the iCloud for Windows application on my laptop because of the way they pack the files.
All that to say, it is literally impossible for me to post the weekly chapter right now, and it's totally my own fault. I'm sorry, especially because I know how painful the current cliffhanger is.
I will be back to my house and writing computer late on Sunday or early on Monday, and getting the chapter posted will be my first priority.
Apologies.
Edit: Thank you everyone for your understanding and well-wishes!

2023-11-17 00:26:02 +0000 UTCYeah, I have figured out a system that means this shouldn't happen again, just need to implement it. I'm so rarely away from my work computer for extended periods of time that it just hadn't been an issue until now. The last time was just before I started posting PGTS, I believe.

2023-07-15 12:24:34 +0000 UTCThis is the kind of cascading series of events I’d expect one of your characters to end up in. Enjoy your impromptu break.

2023-07-14 20:30:44 +0000 UTCI kept refreshing yesterday, and it kept being the same. And I thought, “uh oh, there are problems”. I love Mac, but when it doesn’t work, it Really Doesn’t Work. I look forward to reading your chapter; best of luck on posting. I’ve crashed recently after completing a big project, and it seems like it could have been illness, or the stress is a sickness all on it own. Take care of yourself.

2023-07-14 14:51:04 +0000 UTCThat is so tough to just feel everything cascade into something awful! We can definitely wait and hopefully you can find time to relax and recuperate since there is literally nothing you can do at this point. Things happen and it's okay!

2023-07-14 14:50:18 +0000 UTCI feel the pain as I have done something similar awhile back. My solution to this was to shift to multiple platform supported file types and to use a double back up of all current files so that I always had current files on an USB. Then I just had to remember last edited file. Doing so has let me update my project from anywhere as long as I have power an a okay mall laptop. There is a way, it only takes a bit more work..

2023-07-14 14:37:29 +0000 UTCIt's ok. As long as you're doing better, we'll live until you are back home and can post it. Life happens!

2023-07-14 14:31:33 +0000 UTCYeah rough timing on where we are, but absolutely understand! Tech issues suck and we can wait a few extra days. Thank you for the update.
