Musings: December
Added 2019-12-02 13:01:50 +0000 UTCIt’s a new month, which means it’s time for a new Musing post!
Well, I’m not dead. Turns out, it’s really hard to find a way to do both the new job and the usual writing. Gotta focus on the job that pays, gotta make sure I’m meeting my deadlines, gotta get enough hours in… And now, on top of my usual dialogue, I’m supposed to start designing characters, too, so I’m only gonna get busier. I feel like I’ve finally found my stride with the dialogues, at least, I’ve been meeting all my deadlines, even with some unavoidable delays, so that’s nice. I’ve also recently come to the realization that I’ve been working seven days a week for, like, three years straight. There are of course occasions when I can’t write, for one reason or another, and some when I just can’t get anything done, but even then, they’re not really ‘days off’ since I’m still either sitting here trying to force my way through the block or just feeling agonizingly guilty all day. Even if I’m only working relatively short hours each day, I’m starting to think maybe I should work on arranging a couple days a week where I don’t try to do anything.
That said, I don’t want to abandon you guys. Your support has been quite literally the only thing keeping me afloat for the last several years, and you deserve better than to be neglected like this. I’m going to try and schedule a doctor’s appointment this month to see about increasing my ADHD meds to twice a day. If I could manage, like, a normal eight-hour workday, that would be an enormous help in getting everything done.
The current rotation: (Gwen’s Curse) > (Harry Potter and the Serpent of Gryffindor) >(Poll: A Class Of Their Own) > (Mombot) > By the Horns > [New Story 1] > [New Story 2] > Happy Birthday > Ghost Story > poll > Ciri in Heat > Lay on Hands
I’ve also been thinking I probably have too many commissions. The wait between new chapters of a single story is getting too long, commissioners are getting restless and impatient and cancel their pledges. Then new people sweep in, new commissions sliding in after the current story, and that further delays the old stories I haven’t gotten back to yet… As long as this job is taking care of my bills, and using up most of my energy, I think I can probably afford to trim down the list a bit. I'm just trying to figure out a fair way to decide which commissioners will stay.
Anyways, I'm gonna be really trying to actually put out some new content this month, even with the holidays coming up, so keep an eye out, and I hope you all enjoy!
