PATREON CHANGES!

Alright, so, I've been planning to make some changes to the patreon tiers for a while, and I think I've finally gotten something workable. To be perfectly clear, none of this is FINAL, and it’s not going into effect immediately. I’d like to put them into effect at the start of next month, but I’m posting them now so I can get your feedback before I make any major changes, and I’ll be paying close attention to your comments/messages/emails on the subject. Ultimately, the rewards are mostly stuff that’s already in place, just rearranged, but I like to think the higher tiers offer more tangible rewards this way.

$1: Beyond the satisfaction of knowing you’re helping to get more smut written, you get to vote on my regular ‘what’s next’ polls, and access to all patreon-exclusive updates.

$5: You get everything from the $1 tier, plus early access to all shorts, a month in advance of public release.

$10: In addition to everything from the $5 tier, you get early access to all stories, posted as they’re finished.

$25: In addition to everything from the $10 tier, once each month you can commission me to write you a 1000-2000 word short, on any subject you like!

$50: As one of my most generous patrons, in addition to everything from the $25 tier, you get a commission bank account. Every time one of your payments is processed, you get 20 words/dollar added to your account (1000 for $50, 1500 for $75, etc). Cash in your saved up words at any time to get a commission written to your exact specifications!

No, I mean, I know what a PDF is, I'm just not sure what kind of PDF you were trying to suggest I make. Did you mean, like, a full-on book kinda thing, with all the text of each story compiled together? Or were you thinking of something more like a reference document, an archive where all the stories I've written are organized by series?

yeah the pdf document file format often used for books and pictures [example below]. I didn’t mean to imply $50 pledge tier was equal to the $25 pledge tier but the best part of it is the $25 pledge tier, maybe if the time was cumulative time shorten somehow [idk how] because the time is what makes it breaks it. Pdf example: http://d20.sabotender.com/5th/Source/DnD%205e%20Monsters%20Manual.pdf

First off, thanks for all the feedback! The new $5 tier is definitely different from the old, in that it’s early access to shorts, rather than stories. The new $25 tier will mean there are a lot more shorts to enjoy, though. The old $10 tier was basically never used, so I figured I had to do something. Beyond that, though, I figured the increased cost of early access would be balanced out by the magnitude of the earliness. Instead of a week, it’s as much as a month now. Your math is mostly accurate (I’d point out the words are added each time a payment is processed, not just once/month, so your time estimates are off), but based on a flawed premise, that the words you get from the $25 tier are the same as the words you get from the $50 tier, so their values are equal. Yes, you get more words/dollar at the $25 tier, but those stories are shorts. There’s not nearly as much room for setup, elaborate scenes, or detailed descriptions in a short. And while it will take time to get a lengthy commission this way, it probably wouldn’t take as long as it currently does, and in the meantime, they’ll still be getting monthly shorts to tide them over, and their progress toward their goal will be tangible and measurable. Ultimately, as much as I’d like to be able to offer my most generous patrons full-length, detailed commissions every month, I simply can’t. I just don’t have the time or the energy. Personally, I’ve never been fond of the ‘X words/dollar’ model, mostly because I find it incredibly difficult to accurately gauge how many words a story will actually be until I’m about halfway through it, and I don’t want to find myself in a situation where the words don’t end up matching the price. If the story runs on too long, I would end up having to either hastily cut it short and basically hold the rest of the story hostage until they paid enough to finish it, write out the full length and waste my time and effort, or, worst of all, write out the full length then hack it to bits in editing until it’s short enough. If the story’s not long enough, I have to either overcharge, cram an extra segment into the story, or return the extra money (which is massive pain in the butt). I’m… not exactly sure what you mean about the PDF. Do you mean, like, an archive document kinda thing? Can you clarify?

Nothing changes with regular commissions.

Some other tips might want to make a pdf and/or word doc that has the all chapters of current story in one place for convenience and put in in a pledge tier. Like a google doc that has every chapter available to the public of Daddy’s Home in one pdf or google doc and giving a teaser if another chapter is out but not public, because no one wants to be reading a story and not be able to finish it even tho there is more and and that may lead to pay you to do that. And do the same for other stories, also this works better when you more longer stories. Might want to do a one slot pledge tier for an overpriced commission and just label it asap but will be done all other things within X amount of time like 2 months I like your writing a lot and it reminds me of me but faster before i skipped to doing concepts, i supported you early on when there wasn’t even $50 and i want to see you succeed but that $50 pledge tier just doesn’t math out and $10 pledge tier is dependent on more than 2-3 stories getting done in a month which you don’t have the best record of. While i want to see you succeed I'll stick to $1, $5, and/or $25 pledge tier to support you because the rest is currently unappealing.

What does this mean for a PayPal commissions?

$1 pledge tier It’s good and great $5 pledge tier It’s good to meh, It’s the same current $5 pledge tier and is dependent on the number of any stories that come out $10 pledge tier It’s meh to bad and that it is dependent on the number of any stories that come out but is worse than the current $5 and $10 pledge tier $25 pledge tier Is great and amazing, you should be getting 2k worded story for the price $25 which is 80 words to every $1 instead of 20 words to $1 that is the $50 pledge. Best new thing $50 pledge tier But besides it giving the benefits of the previous $25 pledge tier it’s actively worse than the current $20 pledge tier unless you wait longer than the 17 months. [If it’s 20 words to every $1 that's 5 cent for every word.] If it’s 20 words to every $1 your past commissions and patreon stories avg word counts of 7k, 8k, 9k words. That means 7k worded story = $350 and 7 month wait, 8k worded story = $400 and 8 month wait, 9k worded story = $400 and 9 month wait, and etc. This also means it’s this is or can be 3 times or more to commission price offering. But you should be getting 2k worded story for the price $25 which is 80 words to every $1 instead of 20 words to $1 which is great and amazing, but why not just pick the $25 pledge tier? I suggest that you might want to decide what you want to focus on. The 2 most common that i see is a lot of smaller stories combining to turn a profit of what should be easier and quicker like raffles, polls and short stories on topics and things that you do easily in so you can avoid burning out and writer's block and etc. Or larger more costly stories like commissions but do things like up the minimum price, regulate the word maximum with over charges, changing “X” per word/ “X” words per dollar, limiting commission slots but upping the price like a base price of $40+changing “X” per word/ “X” words per dollar, and etc
