As you may have noticed, April was not a good month for me. I burned out, and then I kept making it worse. Looking back, it actually happened about a week before I posted the first part of By The Horns chapter 5. Since then, I’ve only actually managed to write like 2k words. I was in denial about it for about a month, and kept trying to force myself to write something, ANYTHING, which worked about as well as trying to ‘walk off’ a broken leg would. In the end, I finally got the picture, and actually took a week off to recuperate and let my mind rest.
I also took the opportunity to consider my current position and how I’m going to move forward. And I’ve come to the decision that, as much as I enjoy writing smut, it can’t be the only creative outlet in my daily life. So, I’m going to keep writing smut, but I’m also going to work on other projects. I’m not exactly sure what the ‘other projects’ will be, but I’ll probably talk about them on my twitter if you want to keep an eye on them.
In more immediately relevant news, I’ve been working on some changes to the patreon layout, based on what some more successful authors are doing. One of the most common complaints among the higher-tier pledges is that they don’t feel like they’re getting anything for their money, so hopefully this will, if not fix, at least help with that. I’ll make a separate post about the details, probably tomorrow, once I clean up some wording.
I’ve decided I’m NOT going to charge for this post, because I don’t really have anything to release at the moment, and I hope that this’ll force me to finish at least one of the currently-in-progress chapters in order to be paid this month. I DO have a request for this month’s musing, and I have started it already, so hopefully it shouldn’t be too much trouble to finish it off pretty quickly.
