2018 ad changes
Added 2018-01-16 18:45:08 +0000 UTCHey guys, thanks for sticking around! There is going to be some changes for a bunch of my sites regarding advertising. Starting feb 15 google chrome will have a build-in adblocker for sites that violate the 'betterads' standards. This means for all the sites, excluding booru.org since it has no adverts we are forced to remove our popunder code. Popunder is the annoying ad that opens a new tab in the background, this ad alone makes up for about 40% of our total revenue. Hopefully advertisers will slowly move away from this type of ad and move budgets back to normal banners but this is something we have yet to see.
Personally i feel that a browser should be neutral and not have a build in adblocker to cripple competitors but there isen't anything we can do against google at this time.

but honestly advertisers are overdoing it and with google trying to get these better again, because as you say yourself these are really annoying, and if it helps the ad makers to get back on a more normal route where people can browse sites without an adblocker without being either annoyed, trackked into hell or both then I am all for it.
