So, I’m starting to think I should put some real effort into upgrading my patreon page, adding more milestone goals (since we’re getting close to $100 at the moment), adding new patron tiers, stuff like that. Maybe even figuring out how to make those cool little link-button thingies, or just generally trying to make the page seem more professional. Problem is, I’m not exactly sure what I should be offering at various milestones/tiers, and, more importantly, what people would be willing to pay for. I figured, who better to ask than the people already paying me? What do you guys think would attract more patrons? What do you think would encourage patrons to contribute more? Should I be trying to attract more low-paying patrons, or set the bar higher for those with more moolah? Do you think a front page that looked more fancy/sophisticated would be helpful? Anything I'm doing now that I should probably stop? Some vague ideas: $100 Milestone: Guarantee of one chapter per month, with a less-firm promise of one request per month too. ? Tier: A short ‘bonus chapter’ each month, like 500 words long per patron pledging at this tier, the subject voted on by those same patrons. ? Tier: Each patron pledging this tier gets 500-1000 words (one draft) on a subject of their choice per month. ? Tier: Patrons pledging this tier get access to the rough draft of a story when it’s first completed, and can comment or suggest changes while I rewrite to the final draft.

Alright! I just added two new tiers! $10 makes me write bonus chapters, and $20 gets your writing requests priority!

2015-03-09 17:13:25 +0000 UTCYou raise a good point. I don't want to end up doubling my work for each chapter if it gets too popular... Maybe I could run with the bonus chapter idea. Make it once/month, subject of my choice, and patreon-exclusive. I can fiddle around with the word count per patron once I see how many people are signing up. I added the new $100 milestone, because I believe I can manage that much as long as I stay on-task.

2015-03-09 03:02:28 +0000 UTCI don't know, honestly. The ideas listed are just vague ideas at the moment, I wanted to see if they interested the patrons before I started working out details. I have to figure out exactly how much I can deliver how fast and how much it'd be worth to me.
