Chapter 36.5- Doom Days

“You spent twelve years in Azkaban and the first thing you did when you got out was try to find me. He had no excuse for his absence” I said, even as I recognised that it was probably mean and unfair to say. If he’d come even within feet of me, he’d probably have been sent to the dementors faster than I could say expecto patronum.

“Exactly what I thought” He said, but said no further. I wondered if their fight had anything to do with me. It probably did.

Sirius was good company for the morning but that was only half my morning. I apparated to the Chamber of Secrets in a chain of jumps before I used the time turner around my neck to begin my morning anew. The task had taken place on a Sunday and that meant today we had classes to run through. With my OWLS through, the professors did not even bother trying to pretend I was on the same level as the rest of their class. At least that was the case with Flitwick, Mcgonagall, Slughorn (who had returned after Snape had been incarcerated), and Babbling.

The first class of the day was Charms. And I made it to the classroom a few minutes before the class began and he turned to me with a look on his face that I wasn’t quite sure I was going to like the consequences of.

“So how are you feeling Mr. Potter?” He asked.

“Good so far, Professor. And you?”

“Disappointed after watching the worst display of teamwork from a Hogwarts student since the day I began here as a student” He said. I sighed, sure I was about to receive another lecture.

“I won’t lecture you. Minerva and Albus have done their share of that. No, instead I’ll do you one better. I’ll help you” He said with a sharp smile showing off his goblin teeth.

“Why do I not like the way this is going?” I could feel apprehension begin to rise in my stomach.

“Because you’re going to learn team work whether you like it or not and you will be grateful for it”

“But why do you even care?"

“I thought you knew better, Mr. Potter. You’re looking at a five time doubles duelling champion” he said, and impossibly, his smile somehow got even sharper.

“Can I opt out of this? Just turn around and walk back to whence I came?”

The door slammed shut behind me.
